Type: Full-Time
Start Date: Interviews targeting early July
About the Company
A well-funded, early-stage fintech startup backed by industry veterans is building a next-generation marketplace for private credit. With roots in financial product innovation, data science, and risk analytics, the founding team includes leaders who previously launched market-defining credit tools and investment platforms. The company is now scaling its engineering leadership to support the next phase of product development and infrastructure buildout.
About the Role
We’re looking for a Head of Engineering to define and drive our long-term technical strategy while guiding hands-on execution across key initiatives. This person will work closely with the founding team and a part-time technical advisor to balance short-term delivery needs with thoughtful architectural decisions. Ideal for a senior engineer or engineering manager looking to step into a strategic leadership role in a fast-moving startup.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead engineering across three major areas:
- Lending Platform: Backend-heavy system built in Node.js/PostgreSQL; close to go-live.
- Data Infrastructure: Robust ETL and analytics environment (AWS Glue, Apache Spark, PySpark).
- Investor Portal: Data-intensive app using React/Node/Next.js, underpinned by C++ engines.
- Oversee AWS infrastructure and internal tooling.
- Mentor junior engineers and manage external contributors.
- Collaborate with a technical advisor to validate architecture and guide future iterations.
- Build a pragmatic, learning-oriented engineering culture aligned with startup realities.
What We’re Looking For
- 10+ years in software engineering, including at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Full-stack capability with strong backend experience (Node, Postgres, cloud-native tooling).
- Hands-on understanding of data systems and ETL pipelines.
- Experience in high-trust, early-stage environments where autonomy and decision-making matter.
- Fintech or financial systems experience preferred.
- Strong foundation in software principles; formal CS education is a plus but not required.
Nice to Haves
- Experience building investor-facing portals or financial APIs.
- Familiarity with AWS cost management, access control, and vendor relationships.
Compensation
- Base + Equity + Flexible structure for the right fit
